A Note from Andrea Beaulieu

What do I want?

If this is the question you're contemplating before you prepare your speech, you're missing the three most important words . . .  for my audience.

What do I want for my audience?

Seems like a simple enough question, but it's deeper than you think. I'm not asking, what do you want to accomplish, or what do you want them to do? I'm asking, what do you want for them?

Are you curious now? Scroll down to Tales of Transformation and Artistry! and find out how vital your answer is to your success!

Enjoy!

Tales of Transformation and Artistry!
The Question You Need to Ask to Make Sure Your Message is On Track!

What do you want for your audience? If you were sitting in your audience, what would you want for yourself that the speaker could deliver?

This question asks you to step outside of your own agenda and consider the needs, feelings and goals of your audience. It asks you to put yourself in their shoes.

What do I want for
my audience?
I speak on leadership, personal growth and development, creativity, and most often on how to speak! If I were giving a speech on how to craft and deliver a message that is memorable, I would answer, "I want my audience members to feel empowered, to know what their unique message is, and to feel satisfied that this was time well spent. I want my audience members to feel good about themselves and what they can offer to the world!"

Nowhere do I answer that question with, "I want them to engage my services or advocate for my issue." What?!!
Does that mean you can't share business opportunities? That you can't advocate for your cause? Of course you can! In fact, not to do so may be denying your audience members the very action they need to take that would serve them most!

Lead from a place of service.
What I'm recommending is you lead from a place of service. Your overriding desire is to make sure your audience walks away with something incredibly valuable to them. Whether you speak on financial services, legal services, or preventing child abuse, look at how your speech can serve your audience members right now. What are you bringing to their lives that will serve them right now?

We want to associate with people we trust. When you come from a place of service, you engender trust, because if you don't have trust, what do you have? A big fat nothing!

Asking this question makes sure your message is on track with your audience's needs, feelings and goals, and that they can trust you have their best interests at heart.

So, what do you want for your audience?

And remember, all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. Make sure your play is authentically yours!
