In “A Whole New Mind, Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future,” author Daniel Pink identifies story, meaning, playfulness and empathy as essential elements to success, as we leave the Information Age and enter what he calls the Conceptual Age.

As more and more companies outsource to Asia, and our options for everything from running shoes to tea bags continue to increase, we need to use these elements to create interest and encourage our customers to engage with us. When we can find anything we want with a keystroke, we need to get comfortable sharing who we are and what we have to offer in deeper and more authentic ways to make the connection. Instead of depending on lots of information to do the trick and persuade our customers to investigate or buy, we need to connect as real human beings. We need to speak from the heart.

The most powerful speakers do exactly this. They let down the veil. They run the risk of being vulnerable and reap the benefits. In the video that follows, I share three ways you can let down the veil and make that connection. Enjoy!
