If So, You Could Be A Hero, Outlaw Or Magician!

Last week I introduced you to brand archetypes, specifically the Innocent, the Explorer and the Sage. Today, I’m introducing you to three more archetypes — these purveyors of meaning that transcend any differences we might have in experience, country or culture.
The Hero, Outlaw and Magician all take a stand against limitations by taking risks. In their unique ways, they wake up and energize their tribes to take action and assert their power, sometimes against very challenging odds.
If you or your organization makes, or wants to make, a definitive impact on time and place, one of these could be your archetype!
The Hero: Also known as the warrior, crusader, rescuer or superhero, the hero desires to proves one’s worth through courageous and difficult action.
The Outlaw: Also known as the rebel, the revolutionary, the misfit or the iconoclast, the outlaw desires revenge or revolution to destroy what is not working.
The Magician: Also known as the visionary, catalyst, innovator or healer, the magician desires knowledge of the fundamental laws of how the world or universe works to make dreams come true.
To begin the journey to discover your archetype, reflect on these questions:
- How does your tribe hold you in their hearts and minds?
- How do you want them to?
- What do you notice about what you do and how you do it that could lead you to your archetype?
Aligning with an archetype is a powerful move. Incorporating it into your brand establishes you authentically in the hearts and minds of your community. And, it feels good, because it represents your values and the difference you make.
